Bluecoats closed the season with the first score of ninety nine anybody put on a board in 2026, and they got there by pulling away rather than hanging on. Carolina Crown took bronze with the best brass line on the field and three standing ovations. Here is the whole championship, twelve corps deep, with every mark from all three nights.
Ninety nine point one hundred.
Nobody in this activity had scored a 99 all season. Not at Allentown, not at San Antonio, not on either of the two previous nights in this same building. Bluecoats performed last, which meant the entire stadium spent eleven minutes doing arithmetic it could not finish, and then the number went up on the board and the arithmetic was over.

1.275, then 1.588, then 1.600. The margin did not narrow on a single night of championship week. It widened at Semifinals and it widened again at Finals, and the largest lead Bluecoats held over Blue Devils in the entire three day run was the one they were holding when the season ended.
This matters because of what everybody saw, which was real. Blue Devils were extraordinary on the last night. They put up a 97.500, a full +0.525 on their own Semifinals mark, and the show that a lot of people spent July calling clinical finally turned into the thing it had been threatening to become. The desk said two nights earlier that it had no soul. That was wrong, and the correction is on the record.
They closed. They just did not close the gap, because the corps in front of them added +0.537 on the same night. Two corps both had the best performance of their season within ninety minutes of each other. Only one of them was ever going to get credit for it.

Carolina Crown finished 0.462 behind silver, which on a night of this altitude is close enough that the order could have been argued either way in a bar afterward and both people would have had a case.
What is not arguable is where their night came from. They beat the corps ahead of them in the effect book by 0.250 weighted points and lost the craft book by 0.712. The two General Effect captions are worth 40 of the 100 and the six performance captions are worth 60, and that arithmetic is the entire silver medal.
Their brass sat at 19.450 on the night, second on that sheet and first for the championship. Their percussion sat at 18.450, 8th. Bluecoats took 4 of the 5 caption trophies. Carolina Crown took best brass, the only caption of the night that required beating the champion at something.
One trophy needs its arithmetic shown, because a lot of people read it off the wrong sheet. Caption awards are decided on the championship average of all three nights, not on Finals alone. Carolina Crown took best brass at 19.483 averaged, 0.117 clear of Bluecoats, on the strength of 19.500 at Prelims and 19.500 at Semifinals.
